I’ve lived in Hawaii my entire life and know the price of paradise very well. Certainly, Hawaii is a wonderful place and the people here are friendly and inviting. But the one looming shadow over this paradise is the ever increasing cost of living.
Like death and taxes, the increasing cost of living in Hawaii is inevitable. It will never cease and it will never go down. Land is extremely valuable because of the shrinking availability of land, almost all goods are imported and very little is exported. There are more incoming people than leaving. Finally, Hawaii is the least business friendly state in the country.
With the median home price over $700,000 and food, water, electricity and gas prices far above the national average, homelessness is not going away, ever.
